Forest Community Park: Baton Rouge, LA

Client: The Recreation and Park Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge (BREC)

Summary: Developed a master plan and construction documents for the 114-acre community park in order to reorganize the existing layout, incorporate new uses, create enlarged recreation areas, and enhanced site amenities for users.

  • Completed on-site inventory and analysis as well as historical research
  • Developed a plan to reorganize the existing park layout for better site usage, management, and maintenance
  • Plan includes new interactive play areas for various ages, a spray park, dog parks, a new fishing lagoon, trails, soccer fields, and other features
  • Held public meetings with project stakeholders and prepared marketing and promotional material for use by the client
  • Developed construction documents to implement the park master plan. Construction completed in October 2010.
