BATON ROUGE MAGNET HIGH SCHOOL

BATON ROUGE MAGNET HIGH SCHOOL

To restore the historic Baton Rouge High School to its previous grandeur, the Baton Rouge School Board embarked on a multi-million-dollar renovation. Dana Brown & Associates was commissioned as subconsultant to the architects to create a master plan, final design, and construction documents for renovations to the grounds. The school’s mature Live Oaks, highly valued by the community, have become a Baton Rouge landmark on Government Street, an area which once was a large Live Oak grove. In addition to being an academic magnet school, Baton Rouge High is known for its championship soccer, tennis, volleyball, and track and field teams. DBA designed a state-of-the art, high-performance soccer field with a subsurface drainage system, engineered fiber soils, and highly durable natural turf. A spectator stadium, eight-lane track along the field perimeter, tennis courts, and parking were also designed and constructed. DBA also developed designs, detailed plans, and specifications for historic Live Oak protection, student courtyards, and open green space. DBA designed a campus-wide stormwater management system to ensure the field, green spaces, parking lots, and pedestrian areas are dry and usable soon after storm events.
