FOREST COMMUNITY PARK

FOREST COMMUNITY PARK

Dana Brown & Associates was commissioned to design a Master Plan for Forest Community Park, a Baton Rouge Recreation Department (BREC) park located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The plan includes the protection and conservation of its natural resources, which were critical in ensuring that Forest Community Park’s unique character remains intact for all to enjoy. Efforts were made during the final design and implementation process to preserve wildlife areas and minimize disturbance to existing features. DBA reorganized the existing 115-acre community park layout for better site usage, management, and maintenance. The park serves a large geographic area and features redefined vehicular and pedestrian circulation throughout the park while improving upon the existing baseball/softball fields and the recreation center.  The park also includes constructed wetlands, a sediment pond, nature trails through the forest, and bioswales in the parking lot.
