GRETNA COMPREHENSIVE PLAN

The City of Gretna, a growing and well-positioned city in the Greater New Orleans region, is seeking to prepare its first comprehensive plan. Dana Brown & Associates has been commissioned to prepare the plan and development code. The primary goals in preparing a comprehensive plan are to preserve the small-town character that exists downtown, attract small businesses to locate there, and to ensure that new development and redevelopment supports and enhances Gretna as a place to live and work. Its proximity to New Orleans means that, with the right public investments, Gretna can attract middle income families and small businesses who are being priced out of the New Orleans market. This comprehensive plan will provide the path for moving in the direction of fulfilling Gretna’s future potential. The development code rewrite will provide the regulatory tool to carry out the plan. Both are being prepared in a collaborative process, working with City staff, stakeholders, and the public throughout.
